Gluten Free Cracker Cheesecake Crust

I have a favorite cheesecake recipe that I used to love to make using chocolate graham crackers.  Of course I can't use those now that we're gluten free so I had to find an alternate source for making crusts.  I found an all natural organic no sugar or artificial flavorings/colorings version of cocoa pebbles.

crunch crunch smash the cereal!

Put the cereal in a bowl and smash it up really good.  I used 3 cups of cereal to make a 9 inch pie.  Next you need to add butter to make it all stick together.  Coconut oil also works well.  I used 1/2 cup of melted coconut oil.  Mix the coconut oil or butter up with the cereal.

ready for the filling

Now press into the bottom of the pie plate covering all the bottom and sides fully.  Then you're ready to put the filling in which you can find HERE

Enjoy Life Crunchy Cookie Review

As you may have noticed from my Plentils review, chocolate granola and chocolate chips review, and now this review, I LOVE Enjoy Life Foods!!!  Yum yum yum.  This time they have been super awesome and sent me four boxes of their crunchy cookies to review.  I got the chocolate chip, double chocolate, vanilla honey graham, and sugar crisp.

I am not going to go on again about how Enjoy Life got started, but I do want you to know that I cover it in detail in my first post and you might want to read the next paragraph just to be safe.  Sorry I know, but I really think they're awesome!

Enjoy Life began in 2001.  All Enjoy Life products are free of the top 8 allergens and made in a dedicated gluten and nut free facility. In addition to the top 8 allergens most of their products are also free of potatoes, sesame, sulfites, and casein; as well as, no artificial ingredients, no trans fats, and no genetically modified(GMO) ingredients. Sounds good to me! They also have a stricter testing for gluten than the FDA reccomends. They test to make sure they are under 10ppm instead of the recommended 20 ppm.

So as you've noticed I really love their boxes and packaging.
And the fork for an E is just too cute!

Forgive my stupid computer for turning the picture please.

Crunchy sugar crisp

Crunchy Vanilla Honey Graham

Crunchy Chocolate Chip

Crunchy Double Chocolate

I happened to be enjoying some coffee when the box arrived.

Double chocolate is awesome dipped in coffee just so you know!
When they arrived we of course had to open them and try them out right away.  The first box to get opened was the Double Chocolate(I'm a chocoholic I confess).   I was enjoying the last of my pot of coffee and of course had to dunk it.   Yum yum and more yum.  The sad thing was most of the cookies in this package had crumbled in the travel so they were in pieces.  The kids and I made the most of that by putting them in the blender with 4 scoops frozen yoghurt and 2 scoops regular yoghurt.  Blend and wallah, instant soft serve yoghurt with cookie chunks.  That was our afternoon snack.  Yes I know totally unhealthy but oh so good!

Sugar Crisp
Next we had to give the Sugar Crisp a try.  They were crisp and crunchy, but not the hard crunchy that makes you think you're eating a rock.  These were a soft cruncy.  Think a real Pfeffernausse baked by a true German(sorry I know this may not make sense, but they reminded me of my great grandmas cookies and she was as German as they come).

Chocolate Chip
Chocolate chip cookies are a staple around our house.  My kids loved these.  They dipped them in their milk.  This box did not last long at all!  Once again they were crisp and had a crunch, but not so hard as to break your teeth of course.  The flavor was superb and if you didn't see the box telling you these were gluten free you would not have known.

Vanilla Honey Graham
The last cookie variety we tried were the vanilla honey grahams.  These reminded me a bit of a crunchy graham cracker.  I think they would taste wonderful crunched up and used as a graham cracker crust for a cheesecake.  Of course, they are very good by themselves too.  These were eaten plain.  No milk for dipping, just enjoying the flavor on its own.  I even had one little one who just nibbled on hers because she loved the flavor so much!

A Duke's Promise -Review

This week, the
Christian Fiction Blog Alliance
is introducing
A Duke's Promise
B&H Books (September 1, 2012)
by
Jamie Carie

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

As Jamie’s relationship with God grew, she discovered her heart was filled with songs and poetry. During high school she wrote lyrics for her brother’s band. (And she sang them too!) After college, Jamie married, had two sons and decided to stay home with them. While she homeschooled she wrote skits, poems, plays and short stories for school and church.
When her eldest son turned five she dove into the world of novels. She’d read romance novels for years, but couldn’t relate to the flawless, saintly heroines in Christian romance novels. So she decided to write her own.

Snow Angel was born on a frosty night in an old farmhouse in Fishers, Indiana, where the cold floor gave plenty of motivation for the snow scene. Jamie loves to write late at night when the house is quiet and the darkness seems alive. Elizabeth and Noah had been playacting in her head for a long time, so the story went fast.
Ten years later Snow Angel was published and won the ForeWord magazine Romance Book of the Year winner, was a National “Best Books 2007” Awards winner, and a 2008 RITA Awards® Best First Book finalist. It was the beginning of her dream career.

Jamie and her husband Tony have been married for twenty-one years and live in Indianapolis with their three sons and a giant of a dog named Leo.

If she could only say one thing to her readers it would be, “Live the dreams God has destined you for!”

ABOUT THE BOOK

From the Land of Fire and Ice back to England’s shores, Alexandria Featherstone finds herself the new Duchess of St. Easton. Her husband has promised a wedding trip to take them to the place where her imperiled parents were last seen -- Italy and the marble caves of Carrara -- but a powerful Italian duke plots against Alex and her treasure-hunting parents.

Hoping to save them, Alex and Gabriel travel to Italy by balloon. Fraught with danger on all sides and pressured by Gabriel’s affliction to the breaking point, they must learn to work and fight together. The mysterious key is within their grasp, but they have yet to recognize it. This journey will require steadfast faith in God and each other -- a risk that will win them everything they want or lose them everything they have.

If you would like to read the first chapter of A Duke's Promise, go HERE.

My thoughts:  Come back later to view my thoughts as I have not received my book yet.

I received a copy of this for free to read as part of the CFBA. However, all opinions in this post are mine and not influenced by others. I was not compensated in anyway for this review other than a copy of the book. Pin It Now!

Oxylent Prenatal Review

Anyone else have a hard time finding a prenatal that they actually enjoy taking?  I have found the ones that give you heart burn.  The ones that make you feel like getting sick, and the ones that make you feel worse than before.

Well I have finally found a prenatal that is actually a joy to take!  Oxylent Prenatals contain no sugar and mix well with a fruity juice.  You can find the supplemental facts by going HERE!  I loved that they provide all the essential vitamins and minerals needed for a healthy pregnancy as well as a great taste!

From their brochure
"Prenatal Oxylent supports the specific nutritional needs of conception, pregnancy, and lactation—including iron, vitamin A, choline, and higher levels of B vitamins."

I am not pregnant, but I am still breastfeeding so I need to continue taking prenatals.  The prenatals I had been taking were what are commonly referred to as "horse pills".  I was so glad to find something in drink form that didn't taste like chalk!  And it was equivelant to the same amounts of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that my old prenatal had!

You can find out more about Oxylent by going to their website, twitter, youtube, and facebook.

Living in Harmony- Review

This week, the
Christian Fiction Blog Alliance
is introducing
Living in Harmony
Harvest House Publishers (August 1, 2012)
by
Mary Ellis

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Mary Ellis is the author of many books, including A Widow's Hope,
Sarah's Christmas Miracle, and A Marriage for Meghan. She and her
husband live in central Ohio, where they try to live a simpler style of life.

She was a finalist in the ACFW Carol Awards for A Widow's Hope in
2010, and the 3inner of the Award of Merit in the Holt Medallion Awards
for A Widow's Hope in 2010.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Living in Harmony is the first book in bestselling author Mary Ellis's New Beginnings series. It's about fresh starts and love...and how faith in God and His perfect plan for our lives provides us with the peace and joy we desire.

Amy King--young, engaged, and Amish--faces difficult challenges in her life when she suddenly loses both of her parents in a house fire. Her fiancé, John Detweiler, persuades her and her sister Nora to leave Lancaster County and make a new beginning with him in Harmony, Maine, where he has relatives who can help the women in their time of need.

John's brother Thomas and sister-in-law Sally readily open their home to the three newcomers. Wise beyond his years, Thomas, a minister in the district, refuses to marry Amy and John upon their arrival, suggesting instead a period of adjustment and counseling.

During this time Amy discovers an aunt who was shunned. She wishes to reconnect with her, but this puts a strain on her relationship with John.

Can John and Amy find a way to live in happily in Harmony before making a lifetime commitment to one another?

Watch the book trailer for Living in Harmony:

If you would like to read the first chapter of Living in Harmony, go HERE.

My thoughts:  I fell in love with the characters of this book and have found myself watching for the next book to come out.  Amy has such a spirit that won't be controlled and John hasn't quite learned what it means to love.  I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good romance with ups and downs.  You don't have to just like Amish books to like this one.  These characters will appeal to you whether you're an avid Amish reader or not!

I received a copy of this for free to read as part of the CFBA. However, all opinions in this post are mine and not influenced by others. I was not compensated in anyway for this review other than a copy of the book. Pin It Now!

Step 4 Kids to Draw DVD Review

When we received the Steps 4 Kids DVD on drawing, I must say that this makes an absolutely awesome art curriculum for homeschoolers.  My kids loved this and had a great time using this to work on their drawing skills for the past few months.

Here is the product description from their website:

"In July 2012, Steps4Kids will release its Steps4Kids to Draw DVD with approximately 90
minutes of video modeling to help emerging artists learn how to draw shapes, animals, people and things. For children learning to draw shapes, the "Shapes" section shows how to draw a circle, square, triangle, rhombus/diamond, heart, cube and star. Each shape uses colored graphics to help children learn to identify the shapes as well! For more advanced artists, the Steps4Kids drawing DVD shows how to draw animals that you may find on a farm, in the house, in the water or at the zoo! (20 total) The "People" track shows how to draw 5 faces, introduces "profiles" and demonstrates how to draw basic clothing. The "Things" track shows how to draw a bike, car, flowers and more! Each section (Animals, People, Shapes and Things) has "all play" features that enable viewers to play multiple demonstrations at once but also enables viewers to select each item individually to practice their favorite items!

My kids really enjoyed watching the segments on here.  We started off with the easiest one at shapes.  Once they had mastered shapes we then went on to the things section, the animals, and lastly the people.  My children are far from being accomplished artists, but I can truthfully state that their drawing has improved with watching this dvd and it has enhanced a part of their curriculum that was severely lacking as I am not an artist and in fact can only draw stick people!

Make sure to check out their website and facebook as they have other learning DVD's as well.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Emu Oil Hair Growth Shampoo Review

When I got the chance to try Emu Oil Shampoo I jumped at it.  I love trying new shampoos for my hair.  I have really long hair but after being pregnant or breastfeeding(or both) for 8 years now my hair has taken a beating.  It's not as thick as it once was or grow as well.  It's even taken to falling out some.

I love this shampoo.  It makes my hair feel thicker and fuller.  It is a very thin shampoo and a bit runnier than you would expect if you're used to using store bought shampoos.  It has very little scent, just a little subtle pleasant smell.

Superfood Trend Green Tea Review

I love drinking tea.  I have a problem though with wanting my tea to not contain all kinds of extra ingredients.  I hate picking up a bottle of tea and seeing that it is filled with sugars and dyes and not good for you things.  These two bottles of tea that I got to review from Teas' Tea were wonderful and just tea!

I loved the bold flavor of the mango oolong tea.  It was lightly sweetened, but not with processed white sugar so I was okay with that!

The rose green tea was delightful!  Just a hint of flavor.  I could drink this all day!  Unsweetened and no calories it's quite the treat!

I actually must share that I drank the first one for a breakfast on the go one day.  I was in a bit of a hurry running late to go pick up groceries and didn't have time to feed myself breakfast so I picked up the rose green tea.  It was really good and didn't make me want to eat something with it.  I have found that some teas make me think I need something to eat with them in order to make a meal, but this one just made me feel good about what I was drinking!

I got two bottles of tea as well as a very nice bag

rose green tea and mango oolong tea
Stick around and see what Teas Tea is going to let me giveaway to one lucky winner later on!  Woohoo it's going to be good!

Ecover Dishwasher Tablets Review

I normally only use dishwasher detergent that is loose powder, but when I got the chance to review Ecover Dishwasher Tablets I thought I'd give them a try.

I was surprised at what a great job these did cleaning my dishes and how easy they were to use.  Just open it up, stick it in the area, and tada, it's ready to go!  These got my dishes spotless and did not cause any problems with my dishwasher.  My dishwasher is 7 years old and if I use certain detergents in it it rattles and makes all kinds of nasty noises as if it was going to die.  This had it running very smoothly!

I loved these and do recommend them!  They lasted so long for such a small box too!  Oh I should mention that I have very hard well water so certain detergents don't clean at all.

CopyKids DVD Review

DVD Copy-Kids Eat Fruits & Vegetables

I got a chance to share the Copy Kids DVD with my children.  They loved watching the giggling children eating vegetables and fruits.  It did make them want to try a few new things like avocadoes.  We normally eat relatively healthy and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables here in our house.  With being gluten free fruits and veggies are easy to eat as they are naturally gluten free and we don't have to worry about them.

My kids have always refused to eat peppers because their daddy does not like them, but after seeing these kids laughing and giggling as they ate theirs, they did actually try them for me!  I was ecstatic as I love peppers.  Out of 8 kiddos I now have 6 who will eat peppers!  Woohoo.  Success thanks to Copy Kids.

Copy-Kids DVD Trailer from Copy-Kids on Vimeo.

Watch the trailer above and see why this video is so cute.  These kiddos giggle in such a way that it's contagious!

Little Cosmetics Review

My daughter was so excited when we opened the mail the other day and out came a cute little set of cosmetics for her!  These are so cute and no colors at all.  My little girl was grabbing them to play with them before I even got them all out and photographed!  It was so cute!!  I did get some pictures of the items as she was playing with them though.  I should say that she even climbed onto my dining room table to get to play with them!  I was giggling quite a bit at her by that point!

I do have one down side to these.  They are hard for my almost 2 year old to open so she comes running up to me every few minutes telling me to "ope" or open in real people terms.  But the way she says it is super cute so all is forgiven.

Now on to some of the cute pictures!  Don't forget to keep reading to the bottom for where you can find your own and more surprises!
