Pirate Party Review

I was recently given the opportunity to review the Pirate Party Games Pack.  A great company out of Canada puts together these party packs with everything you'll need game wise to have a good party .  There are options for little kids, bigger kids, and adults.  For our party it was all little kids so we didn't use all of the pieces of the party pack.

My kids loved the things we did!  We placed Pin the Parrot on the Pirate and the kids about died from giggling fits.  I know, I'm a bad mom, but I've never done these kind of games with my kids because we just don't have the money to spend on things like this.  So, this was an extra special treat and it's needless to say that I'm going to have to hone my art skills so that I can start making things like this for them to do more often!

We also did a version of the Pirate Language Game.  I took out all the words that they wouldn't know and just use the simple words.  Again, they loved it.

We used the posters and placemats as well.  We did the scavenger hunt with some modified things to find.  The other games were a bit old for my age range so we didn't use those.

My kids are already asking when we're going to have our next party!

The pack retails for $19.95. My pack included:

   Balloon Pirate Craft For Kids
   Facebook Pirate Language Game
   Pirate Mad Libs
   Pirate Newlywed Questions Game
   Pirate Placemat for Kids
   Pirate Poster for Kids
   Pirate Party Icebreaker
Printable Treasure Map Template Pirate Craft For Kids
   H-ARRR-ible Pirate Jokes Game
Survival of the Fittest Party Game
Pirate Nature Scavenger Hunt for Kids
Pin the Parrot on the Pirate game for Kids
Shoot the Boot Drinking Card Game
   Pirate Trivi-ARRR

You can find them on Twitter and Facebook  or their website

I was offered this product for free in exchange for a review.  However, these opinions are all my own and those of my children who enjoyed the party pack. I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. #AtoZChallenge -Q

The letter of the day is "Q".

"Q" can be a hard letter to think of at times.  Maybe my word for the day has something to do with the kids liking Veggie Tales, but my "Q" word is Queen for Queen Esther.  Esther was such a brave and courageous woman.  I am constantly amazed when I read her story of how brave she was and how she trusted in God to keep her safe as she disobeyed man's law that could have seen her killed.  I think we should all pray for Esther's wisdom(I know I have been) to help us to see things and respond to them in the courage and bravery of our Lord.

Fionna's Funnies

Fionna helping to wash the table in her nightgown after breakfast

As I remember some things that Fionna did today(and start giggling at them) I realized it's been a while since I've shared what's going on in my life so thought I'd take a few minutes to do just that!

First off, I cloth diaper.  Not sure if everyone knows that, but I do.  Today I had to put Fionna in her velcro ones because I was washing her snaps.  Well, I don't like the velcro ones.  Here is the main reason.  I put Fionna down for her nap and as normal about half an hour later I hear her pitter patter coming out after she wakes up.  I turn from washing dishes and she's grinning ear to ear as she holds her diaper up for me to put back on her!!  Oh yes, she's quite the girl.  At least she woke up dry and not with a soiled diaper to hand to me. . . .

Another thing about Fionna that maks me laugh everytime is our nursing time.  I'm still breastfeeding her(she's 17 months now) and she has settled into a routine.  When she decided she needs to nurse(I nurse on demand, always have) she will go get a book(yes a book!), come up to me and either say num num or nurse, which sounds more like urse.  Then I'll pick her up and let her nurse.  While nursing she will read her book.  If I try to take the book away she will get mad and stop nursing until I give her back her book.  I personally think this is adorable until she accidentally beams me with the book. . . .

Now onto a few other things that have been going on.  I took all 8 of the little monsters to the dentist on Tuesday.  They really were all well behaved and good.  I was shocked at how well they did.  Bridgett, Audry, Mariah, Lucas and Colin all got their teeth cleaned.  The babies were too young still and Patrick is seeing the specialist for his tooth on Monday.  Everyone checked out fine except Audry.  She has a few cavities that will need filled.  Bridgett is all full of questions about braces because it was decided she will probably need them in the future.  Colin is happy because the dentist kept raving about his pretty teeth, he actually said they were some of the prettiest teeth he's ever seen.

But, I should think about getting ready for bed.  Tomorrow is the day for my UNFI coop and I'm going to have to take all 8 of the little ones with me because we won't have a babysitter.  My kids actually normal behave themselves when I have to do this, but it does drain my energy because I'm constantly watching and counting making sure one doesn't wander away.  Pin It Now!

The Protector -Review

The Protector, O'Malley Series #4 -
        By: Dee Henderson
The Protector by Dee Henderson, Book 4 in the O'Malley Series

Description (CBD):  Jack O'Malley is a fireman who is fearless when it comes to facing an inferno. But when an arsonist begins targeting his district, his shift, his friends, Jack faces the ultimate challenge: protecting the lady who saw the arsonist before she pays an even higher price.

My views:  I am in love with this series and really cannot wait to finish it.  I want to know everything that happens with this family.  This book was no different than the rest in that it kept me rivited and I did not want to put it down.  You fall in love with Jack and Cassie and hope for Cassie to accomplish her goal someday.

My reviews of other books in the series:
Prequel- Danger in the Shadows
1- The Negotiator
2- The Guardian
3- The Truthseeker

This review expresses my opinion.  I was not compensated for this review.  This book was one I borrowed from the local library. Pin It Now!

Second Nature -Review

Cover for 'Second Nature'

Second Nature by Elizabeth Sharp

Description (Smashwords):  Amelia Hoffman always knew she would be with Nathaniel Peplow forever, but after they bonded everything started to go wrong. Nate treats her like the enemy, her siblings are in danger, and an old threat grows closer. As Nate pulls away and Amelia’s burgeoning friendship with a handsome stranger blossoms, she worries she made the biggest mistake of her life. If sorting out her love life wasn’t enough, a new drug emerges that not only threatens the ones she loves, but seems to be part of something larger than she could ever imagine. Amelia’s new and old friends must work together to not only save themselves, but the whole world.

My views:  I wasn't sure what to think when I started to read about this book, but it intriqued me so I agreed to review it.  I can not tell you how much I enjoyed this book.  The author is wonderful.  She keeps you in such suspense that you cannot put the book down(ok since I was reading it on the computer I guess you'd say she made it so I couldn't take my eyes off the screen).

This book focuses on the Otherworld- the world of the supernatural powers.  You meet angels, demons, gaia, and many more.  I normally don't go for books that focus on this sort of thing, but this book was outstanding and it makes me wish I had read the first book in the series before this one!

I highly recommend this book, even if you're like me and this doesn't normally interest you.  I will definitely be watching to see if a 3rd book is added to this series and yes I will be checking out the 1st book too.

I was offered a free ebook in exchange for my review.  However, the opinions expressed in this review are all my own. Pin It Now!

#AtoZChallenge -P

"P" is the letter of the day.  Who has a word for "P"?  My son Patrick would say it was him.  My word for "P" is purpose.  We all have a purpose to our life on earth and when we let go of that purpose and just live without a goal we tend to not get anything done.  What is your purpose?

My purpose is to be the best Godly wife and mother that I can be.  This means teaching my kids in the way they should grow, which adds another purpose to my life of being a teacher.  Since I am a homeschooling mother I qualify as a teacher.   Oh, I don't have the certificate from a college telling me I can, but I do have a college degree and I qualify to be a substitute teacher in public schools.
