Kristy's Kreations Mama Pad Review

I recently discovered a great little shop that only has facebook to promote them.  I was allowed to review one of their postpartum pads.  These pads are gorgeous!  Super soft minky that just makes you want to snuggle with it.  I must confess that I had to snuggle my cheek into the soft pad material myself before I even prepped it.

The pad has two snap settings for how snugly it will fit to your underwear.  These are very helpful if you are a smaller or larger woman so you can make it the most comfortable fit for you.

The pad is 14 inches in length and made out of an upper of minky, two layers of zorb, and then backed in fleece.  These are very absorbent.

If you have never used mama cloth before, it is a lot like cloth diapers in that you have to prep them.  With my pad came a magnet telling me how to prep this pad.  It states to wash 2-3 times to get the zorb at it's most absorbent point.  I did the wash like I would a diaper.  I washed first in hot water, and then did two rinses in cold.  Allow to dry, and then repeat this process.

Once I was done prepping the diaper I wanted to see how much water it would hold.  I know water and blood are not quite the same and the absorbency may vary with the different liquids, but I was very pleased to find that I did not encounter leaks from the pad until I had put 4 cups of water onto it!  This is quite a lot!  I would say that I personally change my pads every 3-4 hours and it is unlikely that it would become that soiled during this time which is wonderful!  This means leaks are not very likely to happen.

This pad will make a wonderful addition to my mama cloth stash and specifically to my stash or post baby.  When I'm not postpartum it will make an excellent overnight pad as well.

Make sure you check out Kristy's Kreations on facebook.  If you have a special order or product you'd like to see don't hesitate to send her a message.  She will gladly work with you to custom make that perfect pad!

I love the colors on mine as well as the softness.  This is a far cry better than most of my cloth pads which are flannel and PUL backed as it breathes so much better!

Rockin Green Femme Rock Laundry Detergent Review

When I started using cloth pads I had no clue that anyone made a special detergent for them.  But that makes sense because I didn't know anything about special detergents for cloth diapers either.  Then I heard about Rockin Green.

Rockin Green makes laundry detergents not only for specialty things like cloth diapers and mama pads, but also regular detergent for all your laundry needs.  They make a soft water, medium and hard water detergent as well as an additive for cloth diaper washing to get that ammonia smell out if you forget to wash for a few days.  Oh and we don't want to forget their funk wash to keep the funky smells out of pails!

I was able to try the Femme Rock which is specifically made for mama cloth.  I was intriqued by this.  I mean I had washed them by hand with just cold water and then put them in with my cloth diapers before and washed them that way.  This was telling me it would work for just them!

So I tried it!  I handwashed with it first because I didn't have many.  I washed and then hung them to dry on the towel rack.  And guess what?  They got clean.  Not just a little clean but spotless.  No stains, no signs of blood, you wouldn't have known they were dirtied!  I later used it with my pads in the washing machine with the same results!

A bit about Rockin Green.  Rockin’ Green LLC was born out of necessity. With kids having sensitive skin and reacting to most all detergents they used(seems to remind me of some of my littles) they set ou to make their own!  They also had the challenge of getting clothes clean with hard water.  I can understand that as we have hard water here.

Here is their description of Rockin Green:
"Our detergents are safe for you and the environment. Rockin’ Green is: Dye free, Comes in several yummy scents (& an unscented version for sensitive skin), No fillers, No enzymes or optical brighteners, 100% Phosphate free, Vegan, Great for sensitive skin and much much more."

I was provided with a bag of Rockin Green Femme Rock in order to facilitate this review.  However, all thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.  They have not been influenced in any way.

Lunapads Cloth Mama Pads Review

I have recently started using Mama Cloth instead of disposable pads during my periods.  I was a bit skeptical at first about how well they would hold without leaking.  But I was shocked when I received the LunaPads Blogger sample pack.  Theirs is customizable!  You can use just the pad by itself or with one insert or with two inserts to help increase the absorbancy!  Also it came with a panty liner.  I personally have really heavy flows for the first few days which had me changing my disposables every couple hours.  I do have to change these frequently, but not quite that frequently!  Disposables have also always given me a rash(I have sensitive skin) and I was wonderfully surprised to find no rashes with Mama Cloth!!
