To make these I used:
1 Betty Crocker yellow cake mix, gluten free(made according to directions)
1 package candy canes(check to make sure they are gluten free)
1 container gluten free chocolate frosting
Okay, first make the cake mix according to the directions.
All mixed up pretty. |
Next smash up half of the package of candy canes.
I placed the candy canes in a baggy. |
And then pulverized them with the bottom of a glass. |
Add them to the batter and stir until mixed together.
Add crushed candy canes to batter. |
Stir them in until combined. |
Ready for the oven. |
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes.
Let them cool. |
Remove and let cool.
Now simply frost them with your icing, we used chocolate, and sprinkle with the rest of the package of candy canes after crushing them!
Frost and top. |
Now that looks good enough to eat! |
Yummy! We are in love though my husband doesn't really like mint so leaving his topping off his icing.

These look so delicious!
ReplyDeleteHow cute! Love the idea.
ReplyDeleteThose look wonderful! My son brought home a recipe book from school where each chil was asked for a recipe. He is in 1st grade and they came up with some funny stuff! One was "Tortilla Bread with Chicken" Instructions: First get it out of the freezer. Put it in the microwave for 1 1/2 seconds, get it out when it's done! Just cracked me up! And one that was "Cookies" Instructions: Get the cookie dough from the store, make circle shapes, put in the oven and done! (Your comment about cheating with the mix made me think of this) :)
ReplyDeleteThey look fantastic! Hey, nothing wrong with a box mix esp if it makes your life easier! Love the addition of candy canes inside the cake. Yum!
